Elisa Gambino is Policy Associate in Geopolitics and International Relations. She is also a Lecturer in Global Development – Global Political Economy in the Global Development Institute at the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on Chinese outward economic engagement and its intersection with development trajectories in different African contexts. Elisa has undertaken extensive research on China-Africa engagement in the infrastructure, mining, and trade sectors. She previously taught in the Department of International Relations at LSE after completing her PhD in African Studies and MA in Chinese Studies at the University of Edinburgh. She has also worked as external consultant for the private sector and government bodies, including the FCDO.
